Hairy Girls -- Bellas Brows can't be beat! You know who you are, those of us with bionic eyebrows. No one could ever tame the beasts(aka my incredibly thick, wild, dark eyebrows)that is until I met Bella. I'm still not sure how she does it but I leave with perfectly soft sculpted brows every time! She is a magical eyebrow sorceress. Don't be surprised if after an eyebrow wax people will actually ask you if you've lost weight, gotten a haircut, or whitened your teeth. I think a lot of people think that a visit to a spa or salon is a luxury - I certainly did. But then in July of 2005 I went to A-Skin Care Salon for a facial as a treat, persuaded by my best friend who was in town for the weekend. I actually felt kind of guilty about it - there are so many other things to spend money on - but I went anyway to humor my friend. It was a lovely facial, but more importantly, the woman who was doing it noticed a spot on my face that had been there for years. "You need to have that looked at," she said, and there was something in her tone that made me take notice. So a couple of weeks later, when I was at my doctor's for a routine checkup, I mentioned the spot to my doctor. She looked at it and said that it was probably nothing, but that she would refer me to a dermatologist. To make a long story short, it was skin cancer. I had surgery a few weeks later, and luckily they were able to get it all. But at 34, I was very young for a skin cancer diagnosis and if I hadn't gone in for that spur-of-the-moment facial, who knows how long it would have been before I was diagnosed. And, it was only noticed because of the experience and knowledge of the esthetician who did the facial - I only wish I could remember her name so that I could say thank you.... more
