The Importance of Customer Testimonials

Using customer testimonials on your reseller web page is a great way to turn a prospective client into an actual client. It is vital that you turn as many of your site?s visitors into actual clients. If you are focusing on solely driving more traffic to your site to increase sales that is a mistake, it is easier and cheaper to capitalize on your available traffic instead of just trying to get more raw visitors. Customer testimonials are a very effective way to do this and below you will fine some suggestions on what to include, where to place testimonials, and a few other tips and ticks.

What to Include in the Testimonials

Do not fake testimonials, it is a bad practice and will cause problems in the long run in respect to your honesty. When a customer gives you a testimonial on your service you want to include what they say as well as go to great lengths to prove they are real and not just some random quotes you made up. If the customer approves be sure to include their name, web site, and email address for people to contact them with questions. You want to show that these are actual people and that their praise is real. Also try to make sure the remarks are on a specific area and not just generic comments about how great the hosting is.

A good example of a short testimonial is below:

"I love XYZ Hosting, they have really gone the extra length to help me setup a custom CMS system and supported it even though it was custom the entire time. My last host didn't help with any script errors at all, thanks to XYZ Hosting for caring! "

John Doe (Dallas, Texas)
Webpage: www.example.com
Customer Since January 2003

This gives a specific comment as well as actual user information and a way for your prospective clients to contact them with any questions.

Where to Place the Testimonials

The key to placing your customer testimonials is to attract the reader's attention. Text in the middle and to the right attracts the eye a little more than the left so I suggest locating your testimonials there.

Another good trick is to have a random quote generator put short quotes from the testimonials in bold on every page with a link that loads a page with the full text. Having a forum is also a good method as it gives the comments by your clients a more authentic and honest feel.

Other Tips and Ideas

  • When doing testimonials show updates over time from the same client along with dates. This is a great way to show your dependability and comments by a happy long term client.
  • A random quote generator is a great way to include random quotes on your page that change which will result in a better click through rate.

n addition to testimonials also write up something called ?case studies.? This is an idea by Kenneth at WHT. Case studies are longer reviews that show exactly what you did for a client with clear examples. These would be more like marketing portfolios showing your work and the extent of the niche you fill. This is a great way to attract customers by showing what you have done for customers and putting them in touch with your customers who will do the selling for you
